The Household of God: Instructions on Gospel-Centered Manhood
We are the Household of God. The church is the assembly and sanctuary of God’s people and the way in which Jesus Christ continues his mission of revealing God’s truth and love to the world. As the Household of God, we need to learn the ways to conduct ourselves as the adopted children in God’s house. The series “The Household of God” is a study of 1 Timothy and Paul’s instructions on how we are to conduct ourselves as those loved and redeemed by God.
Over the next two weeks, we are going to look at the Holy Spirit’s instruction, through the pen of Paul, in 1 Timothy 2:8-15 on how both men and women are to conduct themselves. First, Paul instructs men to pray, but his focus is not on what we pray but when and how we pray. It appears many were struggling to pray and worship in an authentic way. do we, as men, so often feel as though giving ourselves to worship, prayer, and service seem un-manly? Paul teaches that the ultimate act of manliness is to humble ourselves before the Lord.
